[ARCHIVED] Marlboro Nature Trail Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

This project was envisioned by the Marlboro Nature Trail Committee, a subcommittee of the Marlboro Hamlet Economic Development Committee. Creation of trails that provide recreational opportunities and more access to the Hudson River  tributaries in our town was also a recommendation coming from our LWRP project. The land (approximately 33 acres)  that the trail is on is being leased to the town by Tilcon for a period of 25 years. Creation of the trail was done almost entirely through donated time, labor, and equipment under the watchful eye of Tony Falco and skillful hands of Roger Coleman. In addition to the leased land from Tilcon, LaMela Sanitation provided a large rolloff dumpster that helped us remove over 7 tons of litter and trash from this property. The town Highway Department helped with the removal of trash and trees and created the new parking area. Tilcon donated the gravel to cover the parking area. Working with Mr. Falco, Andy Stahl Jr. built the pedestrian bridge at the trailhead, and Elliot Cash constructed the information kiosk. Guidance in creating the trail of approximately 2 miles was provided by Greenway, the National Park Service, the Wallkill Valley Land Trust, the New York/New Jersey Trail Conference, and Marlboro Mountain Construction.  Members of the Marlboro Nature Trail committee are: Tony Falco, Matt Kierstead, Steve Osborn, Al Lanzetta, and Howard Baker.
